J. SCOTT RUSSELL

J. Scott Russell, a life resident of the Troy-Douds vicinity, suffered a heart attack and died at his home at Douds Saturday, April 24 at 6 p.m. Death came eight days after his ninty-first birthday.

A retired farmer, Mr. Russell was born April 16, 1874, the son of James and Rosanna Ritz Russell. On March 25, 1914, he was married to Lizzie Gardner, who died in 1961.

Five brothers and two sisters also died previously.

Mr. Russell was a member of Christ Methodist church and was a past master of Celestial Lodge No. 413, AF & AM. He was also a member of Twin City Chapter O.E.S.

Surviving are a brother, Elmer Russell of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Bollman of West Burlington, Mrs. Susie Casady of Bloomfield and Mrs. Etta Duvall of Selma. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Last rites were held at the Pedrick funeral home at Douds, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. G. Basil Tadlock, pastor of Christ church officiated. Burial was at Troy.
