Obituary

Lizzie Wilson Warner, only daughter of Vactor and Audie Wilson, and wife of Alva J. Warner, was born near Lebanon, Van Buren county, Ia., March 18, 1859 and died near the same place Aug. 2, 1894, aged 35 years, 4 months and 14 days. She was united in marriage to Alva J. Warner July 18, 1878. He with two daughters, aged respectively 10 and 15, a mother and a brother, are the immediate relatives who mourn her removal from them. At the age of 18 she was converted and joined the M. E. church and lived in the enjoyment of this salvation for several years, but neglect of duty and worldly pleasure destroyed her relish for the things of God and she lost the joy of salvation for the time and in her own words on her dying bed “went back into the days of sin.” During the revival meeting held at Lebanon during the last winter she was reclaimed and again entered upon the enjoyment and service of a christian life. During her last sickness which was several weeks duration she manifested a christian spirit, bearing patiently the extreme pain she almost all the while experienced. She prayed much herself and had others pray and sing at her bedside and entered herself appreciatively into these services by others. Her last days were full of peace and joyful prospect of eternal Salvation in and through Christ in “the land beyond the river,” where we shall “Never say good bye.” The funeral services were held in the M. E. church of Lebanon, conducted by Revs. Breeden and Boydston. Many relatives and friends were present to sympathize with the family in their sad bereavement and to pay their last tribute of respect to the memory of one greatly loved in life.
