Ernest Marshall, 81, long time resident of Jefferson County, died at 9:45 p.m. Friday at Nelson Nursing Home.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Interment will be in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport.

Ernest Marshall was born June 29, 1896, in Van Buren County. He was the son of Jesse and Cora Colvin Marshall.

His marriage to Eva Mae Barnett took place Feb. 22, 1924, in Keosauqua, she survives. He was a retired farmer having farmed in the Libertyville and Packwood Communities.

In addition to his widow, Marshall is survived by two sons, Deane, Packwood and Stanley, Ottumwa; two daughters, Darlene Pratt, Stockport and Donna Wheeler, Fairfield.

Also 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ethea Cecil, Ottumwa and Wealtha Heater, also of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, five brothers and four sisters.
