Otho Eugene Downing, 79, of Bentonsport died at 6:02 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
The body was cremated. A private family graveside service was held Saturday in Forbes Cemetery north of Keosauqua with the Rev. David Callen officiating. A memorial was established for Forbes Cemetery and may be mailed to the family at Route 2, Box 239, Keosauqua 52565. Pedrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Downing was born June 27, 1920, in Davis County, the son of Charles and Emma Berkshire Downing. He married Margie Orman Huddleston Feb. 16, 1949, in Memphis, Mo.
He lived in Davis County until moving to Bentonsport in the early 1960s. He had farmed and worked at Rockwell International in Fairfield.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Jerry Huddleston of Keosauqua; two daughters, Karen Pae of Hillsboro and Linda Downing of Ottumwa; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
