MARY ELIZABETH KEMP

Mary Elizabeth Kemp was born January 7, 1850; died January 10, 1931, aged 81 years, 3 days. She came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Heastin[sic], from Dalton, Ohio in 1856. She was one of a family of Seven children---three sons and four daughters---William Heaston of Tillanook[sic], Oregon; Thomas, of Alva, Ok.; John Heaston, of Des Moines; Mrs. Barbara Thomas, of Creston; Mrs. Rachel E. Lain, of Bloomfield; Mrs. Jane Salady, deceased.

She was united in marriage to William Kemp, October 30, 1873. To this union were born four children---all died in infancy. The husband passed away November 19, 1927. She became a member of the Methodist church in her girlhood and remained true to her savior to the end.

Funeral services were conducted in the Troy Methodist church on Sunday afternoon, January 11, by the pastor, Rev. George H. Smith. Appropriate songs were rendered by a male quartet. Interment in the Troy cemetery.
