Miles Wilson Oaks was born Oct. 24, 1867 in Yadkinville, North Carolina, and passed away at his home, January 20, 1928, age 60 years, 2 months and 27 days. His early years were spent in North Carolina.
He was married to Miss Eva Townsend February 10, 1909. To this union a son John Rocky Oaks was born, 1910. He lived on a farm near Troy until 1918 when he moved to Milton.
Mr. Oaks was a highly respected citizen and held a position of responsibility at his death.
He was a member of the K. P. Lodge in which he served as an officer.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Eva Oaks, a son John R. Oaks and a son Harvey Washington Oaks, of a former marriage, his mother Rachel Oaks and a sister Delia Oaks, brother John H. Oaks and three grandchildren.
A loving husband and kind father, a faithful citizen, his passing will be mourned by a host of friends and loved ones.
The funeral was held was held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Oaks home. Rev. William Slosser conducted the service. A double quartette sang three numbers, Mrs. Sherwood, Mr. Parr, Mrs. Gilbert and Mr. Miller. The K. P. Lodge held a service at the grave.
