MRS. ADA L. SHREVE

Ada L. Moore, daughter of Madison and Martha Moore, was born in Logan county, Ohio, May 21, 1845. She grew to womanhood and obtained her education at Indianapolis, Ind., where her parents had subsequently moved.

She was united in marriage with Dr. Benjamin F. Shreve on Feb. 20, 1866, at Indianapolis, Ind.

They presently moved to Troy, Davis County, Iowa, where Dr. Shreve engaged for many years, in all 45, in the practice of his chosen profession of medicine, and his wife faithfully shared with him the many hardships of that strenuous life. Many years ago she united with the Presbyterian church of Troy by profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. Upon their removal to Bloomfield about 14 years ago she transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church of Bloomfield, June 30, 1912. Her husband passed from this life about 4 years ago. Four children were born to this union.

One daughter, Mrs. Harvey Leach, departed from this life in 1912. There survive her and mourn her departure one sister, Mrs. W. O. Parrish of Osceola, Iowa, two sons, G. F. Shreve of Bloomfield, and W.B. Shreve of Des Moines, Ia., and one daughter, Mrs. H. C. Parks of Kirksville, Mo., and also 13 grandchildren, besides other friends. Her sister and three children were at her bedside when she quietly passed away out of this life Tuesday morning, April 13, 1926, at the home of her daughter Mrs. H. C. Parks, of Kirksville, Mo.

Thus passed from among us a woman of quiet and exemplary Christian character. “She rest from her labors and her works do follow her.”

Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church at 2:30 Saturday afternoon by Rev. W. C. Paden, the pastor, assisted by Rev. M. E. Nethercurt, the M. E. minister. Music was furnished by Rev. and Mrs. Paden, Mrs. H. C. Moore presiding at the piano. The Woman’s Relief Corps attended in a body, giving their ritual.
The pall bearers were Messrs G. W Phillips, J. F. Lang, Wm. Wiseman, George Priest, J. J. Combs and W. B. Taylor. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
