Orin C. Hellwig, the only son of J. H. and Adeline Hellwig, was born at Mt. Sterling, Iowa, Oct. 4, 1872 and passed away at two on Sunday morning March 7, 1926, at the age of 53 years, five months and three days.

When he was but seven years of age his parents moved to Boomfield, Iowa, where they lived for four years, then removed to Kelknap where they continued to reside until they came to Milton in 1894. During the years he lived in Milton he had been engaged in the shoe business except for a short time spent in Oklahoma and Kansas.

On Dec. 24, 1904 he was united in marriage to Miss Delpha Conwell of Milton, Iowa.

He was a member of the K.P. lodge of Milton, Iowa, the Masonic Blue lodge Siroc Chapter No. 133 of Milton, Iowa, El Channan Commandery Knight Templers of Keosauqua, Iowa, the Kaaba Shrine Templers of Davenport, Iowa.

For many months the deceased has been in failing health. Every effort was made to throw off the clutches of the disease. Twice he went to Rochester, Minn. To consult specialists.
He fought persistently and with wonderful courage. Everything was done that medical skill and careful care could do but for a number of weeks he grew weaker and weaker until he slipped away to the other world.

O.C. as he was commonly called will be missed by our people, young and old, for he was always able to adapt himself to all classes and ----. He seemed always reluctant to --- anything but good of his fellowmen.

The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereft wife who has bravely borne up during the weeks of his illness and so nobly assisted him by every possible encouragement and assistance.

He leaves, beside the stricken wife, one sister, Mrs. H. B. McElroy, of Burlington, Iowa, four nephews, Orin C., Paul H., Thomas H. and Earl McElroy of Burlington, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Milton, Tuesday afternoon, March 9th, conducted by Rev. H. F. Gilbert, and El Channan Commandry, Knight Templars, of Keosauqua and Milton. Burial in the Milton Sunnyside Cemetery.

We desire to extend our heartfelt thanks to our neighbors and friends the Knight templars and Masons for their help and sympathy during the illness and death of our dear husband and brother, Orin C. Hellwig, to the Christian church. The pianist, the boys who sang also Rev. Gilbert for his good words of love and sympathy and for all the beautiful flowers.
Mrs. Delpha Hellwig
