Joseph W. Perkins.
Joseph W. Perkins was born in Iowa, May 14, 1842, and died at Ketchum, Idaho, Tuesday, May 30, 1911, aged sixty-nine years and sixteen days. He had been in failing health for some time but his death came very suddenly. He left the house for a walk, and becoming weak sat down on the sidewalk where he died almost instantly.
He was raised in Bonaparte where his half sister, Mrs. Sarah Petrie and half brothers, W. H. and James, still live. Allen Perkins of Keokuk is also a half brother. He went west in the early sixties and engaged in mining, being one of the pioneers of Montana and Idaho. In 1882 he with his family consisting of a wife and daughter, moved to Ketchum where he has since resided, the daughter, Mrs. Arthur Price, now living at Dillon, Mont. He was buried in the cemetery at Ketchum beside the grave of his wife who died three years ago.
