Henry Reed Van Steinburg, 82 years old, of Cantril, passed away at his home, Thursday evening, March 21, after a long illness.
He is survived by his widow, one daughter, three sons and one sister.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Cantril, Saturday, in charge of the Rev. F.M. James.

Interment was in the Cantril Cemetery.

HENRY REED VAN STEINBURG.

Henry Reed son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Van Stienburg, was born in Saratoga County New York, March 27, 1853 and departed this life at his home in Cantril, Iowa, March 21, 1935 at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 22 days.

He came with his parents to Van Buren County, Iowa when a baby and lived on a farm near Winchester, then a promising village in the county. He was united in marriage with Alice L Smith, October 3, 1875 to which union four children were born, three of whom died in infancy, the now surviving lives in Oregon. Mrs. Van Stienburg, the mother died some years ago.

He was united in marriage with Louisa Silvers, June 30, 1884. To this union three children were born, all surviving him.

Mr. Van Steinburg was a good citizen, honest, charitable and a home lover, he spent much of his time at home.

His departure leaves a faithful companion in the eighties, three children, Mrs. Emma Sadler of Lebanon Iowa, Foster in town and Burlin of Stronghurst, Ill. One brother preceded him in death, also a half-brother and a half-sister have died. A half-sister, Mrs. Eva Beans of Winchester survives him. Four grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors mourn his decease. Almost his life was spent in Van Buren County.

The family greatly appreciate the kindness of their neighbors and friends during this their sorrow.

Funeral services were held in the M. E. Church in Cantril, Saturday at 2:00 PM, conducted by Rev F. M. James, interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Mr. W. W. Wellborn, junior and sister Cleda sang three selections of songs, Miss Margaret Van Fossen presided at the piano. Pallbearers were Walter Miller, Henry Beaty, Monta Roberts, W. A. Vehslage, O. A. Abernathy and Geo Casady.

Funeral services for Henry Reed Van Steinburg of Cantril were held from the Cantril Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. F. M. James. Music was by Miss Cleda Wellborn and her brother, W. W. Wellborn, Jr. with Miss Margaret Van Fossen at the piano. The pallbearers were W. H. Beaty, M.T. Roberts, William Vehslage, Walter Miller, Ora Abernathy and George Casady. Burial was at Cantril Cemetery.

Mr. Steinburg, who was 81 years old died Thursday night after an illness of several weeks.

He came as a baby with his parents to Van Buren County from New York and lived in the vicinity of Winchester, then a promising village. He married Miss Alice Smith, who died some years later. In 1884, he married Miss Louisa Silvers and to them were born three children, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Emma Sadler, Lebanon; Foster Steinburg, Cantril and Berlin Steinburg, Stronghurst, Ill. His wife and children were at bedside during his illness. Mr. Steinburg also is survived by a half-sister, Mrs. Eva Beans of Winchester and four grandchildren.
