Arthur Wilson

Arthur Wilson, son of Omar and Cornelia Wilson was born near Milton, Iowa, July 20, 1877 and died in the Ottumwa hospital, March 29, 1937.

On Dec. 27, 1905 he was united in marriage to Martha Shipley. To this union was born four children, namely Mrs. Opal Cless, of Milton, Mrs. J. M. Gilchrist of Cherokee, Iowa and Catherine and Stanley of Lebanon.

When Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were first married they moved to a farm in Chequest tonwship [sic]. After remaining there a short time they moved to northern Missouri. After living some five years in Missouri, they moved to Lebanon where they have resided until the present time. Mr. Wilson united with the Methodist church in Lebanon where he has been a faithful and loyal member to his death.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, the four children, five brothers: Frank Wilson of near Troy, James, Willis, Elmer and Paul Wilson of Lebanon; one sister, Mrs. George Abernathy of Milton; a sister, Mrs. Clara Winn preceded him in death. His nephews and nieces and more distant relatives all joined by his many friends mourn his passing.

Arthur Wilson was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him. His friendships were by no means confined to the locality where he made his home. To know him was to love him and respect him. His children will long remember him as a kind and dutiful father interested at all time in their well being. To his wife he leaves that rich heritage that her husband loved and respected her beyond utterance and that after living together believing in the grace of God, she may well look forward to that happy reunion on the eternal shore.

Funeral services were conducted in the Lebanon M. E. Church and were in charge of the Rev. Chas. J. Fix. Burial was made in the Lebanon Cemetery.
