Preston F Law 1855-1937

Preston F. Law, the second son of Uriah and Leticia Law, was born near Pittsburg, Iowa, March 15, 1855. He attended the public schools in Troy, Iowa, and later the Troy Academy and took up the teaching profession. He taught for about twenty-two years in the Iowa schools. On April 23, 1893 he was united in marriage to Dora E. Weyer, of Troy, Iowa, They made their home near and in Troy all the following years.

Mr. Law joined the Methodist Episcopal church in early boyhood. Had become inactive and during a pastorate of James A Wilson had his name restored in good standing in the Troy Methodist church. His business life was his care during his active years. He was most always at home although he had traveled quite extensively.

He was interested in the general welfare of the nation although took little active interest in politics. He held very highly his friendships and was always loyal to them.

He was ailing more of less for the past year, but was confined to his home but a few days, and to his bed but two days and passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 1937, at his home in Troy. He leaves his wife, above mentioned, and also there is one sister, Mrs. Flora Weyer, of Cantril, Iowa.
Beside there are a large number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at the Troy church on Thursday, Mary 20, at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Lloyd Tennant. Interment was had in the Troy cemetery.
