Philip Victor, oldest son of James A. and Jane Miller, was born near Smithfield, Pa., Sept. 8, 1850, and died at his home in Milton, Iowa, Dec. 18, 1913, aged 63 years, 3 months, and 10 days.

He was married to Isabelle Ware January 21, 1873, and to this union were born four children: - Bertha, who died at the age of seven; James W. of Mt. Sterling, Kansas; Minor who died in infancy; and Mrs. Eva Lee of Milton, Iowa.

The wife and mother died August 9, 1886. Besides his children he is survived by his aged father, one brother, William Miller of Gretna, Neb.; one half brother, George Miller of Stockport; and five half-sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wallingford and Mrs. Anna Millet? of Bonaparte; Miss Mary Miller, Mrs. Rebecca Logan, and Mrs. Edna Miller of Hillsboro. One brother, and one half brother, and three half sisters died in childhood. Also surviving are two grandsons, James Victor Miller of Mt. Sterling, Kansas, and Robert Miller Lee of Milton, Iowa.

He came with his parents from Pennsylvania in 1864 and located near Bonaparte, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. The remainder of his life was in and near Milton.

He became a member of Lone Star Lodge No. 155 I.O.O.F. of Milton in 1881 and of Union Encampment No. 30 in 1883. He creditably filled the principal offices in both Encampment and Lodge. His brothers mourn. May the lives of us who yet remain be filled with deeds of charity so that when we come to cross the river of death in the unknown shore, golden keys will open to the palaces of eternity.

The remains were brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. G. W. Miller, in Harrisburg township, where the father, aged eighty-seven, has made his home for the past ten or twelve years, and who was unable to attend a service elsewhere.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Bonaparte Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Holliday, after which the remains were laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Bonaparte cemetery.
