MECK Rites on Tuesday

Wesley "Joe" MECK, 59, veteran of World War II, died at 5:45 p.m. Friday evening at Jefferson County Hospital.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. John Wilkin officiating. Military rites will be conducted at Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.

Family visitation will be this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The son of Ray and Harriet LYON MECK, Wesley MECK was born June 25, 1920 in Birmingham. He was married to Ellen E. CRAWFORD Dec. 28, 1951, at Nashua.

He farmed 1 1/2 miles southeast of Libertyville and lived his entire life in Van Buren and Jefferson Counties. He had worked for 18 years at the Dexter and Philco plant in Fairfield, he was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Angus Association.

In addition to his widow, MECK is survived by two daughters, Mary Ellen WATTS, Ottumwa, and Nancy Meck at home; one grandson; two sisters, Edna CRAFTON, Birmingham, and Mrs. Leona HOLDER, Chariton.

Also five brothers, Lyle, Clifton and Melvin, all of Fairfield; Harold, Davenport; and Donald, Libertyville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

(This is my uncle on the paternal side. He was one of 10 children.)
