OBITUARY - SHERMAN.

DIED - At Cassville, Nov. 19, 1893. Mrs. Rose Sherman, consort of our esteemed townsman and neighbor, James L. Sherman. Deceased was born in Ireland on the 22nd day of Dec. A. D. 1838, and was therefore nearly 55 years of age at the time of her death. Her parents came to America in 1839, when she was not yet a year old, and she was married at New Orleans, La., in December 1858, to James L. Sherman, a prominent steamboat engineer, who of late years has held a position in the U. S. government fleet on the Mississippi river. From New Orleans they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, thence in 1867 to Cassville where (with the exception of one year's residence at Dubuque, Iowa,) they have resided ever since. Deceased was beloved by all who came in contact with her as a kind, obliging neighbor; she was an exemplary wife and mother, and the news of her death, after an illness of hardly one week's duration was a shock to all her friends and neighbors. She leaves a place vacant in the heart of relatives as well as of neighbors that cannot be filled.

On November 21st the funeral service was held by Rev. Father Rossbach, priest of the Catholic church, after which her mortal remains were conveyed to the public cemetery and placed by the side of 4-year-old little Molly, who preceded her mother thence 10 years ago. A large concourse of friends and neighbors accompanied the remains to their resting place. Deceased leaves a husband, and George Sherman, engineer at the Dubuque Plow Works, Jennings Sherman, architect at Winona, Minn., and Marguerite Sherman, the youngest of three children, to mourn a beloved mother's death. The bereaved family has the heartfelt sympathy of the community.
