E. Canaday rites Thursday

BIRMINGHAM - Services for Edna O. Canaday, 93, former Birmingham resident who died Monday morning at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Birmingham United Methodist Church with the Rev. Duane Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham. Friends may call as they desire at the Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Memorials have been established to the Birmingham United Methodist Church and the Birmingham Public Library.

Mrs. Canaday was born April 23, 1891 in Van Buren County, the daughter of Henry L. and Sadie Sherod Jackson. She married Elmer Alonzo Canaday on Dec. 21, 1910 at Birmingham. They lived on farms in Jefferson and Van Buren counties until their retirement in 1951, when they moved to Birmingham. He died Nov. 29, 1965.

Mrs. Canaday joined the Bethel Church west of Birmingham in 1914 and transferred her membership to the Birmingham United Methodist Church in 1951.

Surviving are four sons, Earl of Birmingham, John of Boulder, Colo., Robert of DeWitt, Dean of Holt, Mo.; one daughter, Karen Streed of Marshalltown; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, two sisters, three children and one grandson preceded her in death.
