Obituary of Mrs. Jane Brill
Margaret Jane Brill, daughter of Francis and Amity Patterson, was born July 8, 1845, in Greensburg, Ind., and departed this life at her home near Pittsburg, Ia. Sunday morning Dec. 17, 1922, aged 77 years, 5 months and 9 days.
She came to Van Buren county, Ia., in 1868, which place has been her home ever since. Mrs. Brill joined the M.E. church when quite young and was a faithful member all these long years.
In 1871 she was united in marriage to David Brill, who passed to the great beyond Feb. 2, 1917.
She leaves to mourn her departure six children, namely: Mrs. Cornelia Miller and Mrs. Rosa Long of Pittsburg, Mrs. Jennie Warner, Bentonsport, Mrs. Bell Workman, Eldon, Ia., Frank of near Keosauqua and Samuel who lived at home, also one sister Miss Anthony Patterson, who made her home with her, also 23 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, besides a large number of relatives and friends.Mrs. Brill was a kind hearted woman and will be greatly missed in the community where she lived so long.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. H. Morse of Pittsburg, services being held at the Bethel M.E. church Tuesday, Dec. 19th at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Bethel cemetery.Source: Van Buren Co. Genealogical Society Scrapbook A, page 320, Keosauqua Public Library; Keosauqua, IA
