Samuel M. Fray
Samuel M. Fray was born Oct. 2, 1876, in Keosauqua, Iowa, and passed away Jan. 4, 1949, at the Graham hospital in Keokuk, Iowa, at 8 a.m.
He attended school in Keosauqua as well as several years of his early life.
Mr. Fray spent a few years as a traveling salesman, but in his later years was respected as a Farmington merchant.
Soon after his conversion he be-revial[sic] held in the local Baptist church, and at a later date expressed his desires to unite with that fellowship. The revival service was held by Rev. Peterson. Soon after his cnversion[sic] he began to do all he could toward winning other people for his Master.
On Nov. 25, 1909, Mr. Fray was united in marriage to Miss Jessie Forgrave by Rev. Ship, and during the future shared many happy years together.
Surviving besides his wife are two sisters, Mrs. Georgia Kittle, of Keosauqua, Iowa, and Mrs. Vinnie Rollins of Oakes, North Dakota, was well as four nieces and many close friends.
Among those from a distance attending the funeral were his nieces, Mrs. Ruth Schroeder of Chicago, Mrs. Tom Hawbaker and husband of Ft. Madison, Mrs. Glen Sherod and husband, Miss Vinnie Kittle and Mrs. Wayne Davidson and husband of Keosauqua; his friend Alf C. Larson and Dan McCoy of Keokuk.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Farmington Baptist church. Burial in Farmington Greenglade cemetery.
