10 years, and in
Iowa 35 yrs.

DAVID BROWER.

Died, at the home of his brand nephew, Mr. John Hornbaker, near Bonaparte, on Tuesday, December 31, 1901, Mr. David Brower, aged 81 years, 9 months, and 6 days. The deceased was born in Preble county, Ohio, March 25, 1820. He came to Iowa in 1846 and remained in this vicinity until 1852 when he pushed on to California where he resided twenty years, returning to his Iowa home in 1872. Here the remainder of his long and eventful life was passed. He was a younger brother of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Hornbaker and with some member of this family he made his home for many years.

As these firesides he was ever a welcome guest and to the last hour of his life received the tenderest and most constant care it was possible to bestow.

Mr. Brower was a quiet, industrious and upright citizen. He loved honesty and truthfulness and practiced these virtues in all his intercourse with his fellow men. He was quick in his sympathies and always ready to assist a friend in need. In his death his family and the community in which he lived lose a gently loving friend and worthy neighbor.

The funeral took place from his late home on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 2, 1902, with religious services conducted by the Rev. C. W. Wilson of Busse, Iowa. The body was interred in the Thompson cemetery.

The six pall bearers were sons of his nephews, Martin and David Hornbaker and the son of his niece, Mrs. Jesse Merideth.
