Wednesday, December 12, 2001Edna J. CRAFTON, 88, of Birmingham died at noon, Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at the home of her daughter in Waterloo.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Birmingham United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Reva Rimmer officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. A memorial has been established in her name for the Birmingham United Methodist Church.
Mrs. CRAFTON was born July 1, 1913, in Birmingham, the daughter of Raymond and Harriett LYONS MECK. She married Clarence Roy CRAFTON Dec. 21, 1934, in Birmingham. He died Sept. 16, 1982.
A lifetime resident of Birmingham, she graduated from Birmingham High School in 1931. She was a homemaker and a cook at the Birmingham school until it closed in 1982.
She was a member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church, an active member with the United Methodist Women Quilting, a member of the Sewing and Quilting Club, AARP and the former Keep Young Club in Fairfield.
Survivors include two sons, Clarence Veryl CRAFTON and wife Rachel of Harrison, Ark., and Delbert CRAFTON and wife Rita of West Burlington; one daughter, Dixie CRAFTON of Waterloo; one daughter-in-law Joan CRAFTON of Conesville; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lyle MECK and Clifton MECK, both of Libertyville; and one sister, Leona HOLDER of Des Moines.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Clifford Duane CRAFTON; and five brothers, Dale, Joe, Bill, Harold, and Don MECK.
