Nancy Barnes Baker was born in Holmes Co., OH., Jan 26, 1821, and died at the home of her son, E. H. Skinner, Jan 18, 1904 at 3:00 pm, aged 83 years, 11 months, and 23 days.

In 1837, the deceased moved with her parents to the then far west and settled near Birmingham, and the remainder of her life was spent in this county and the southern part of Jefferson.

She was married to C. D. Skinner in 1838. Ten children was the result of this union, eight of whom lived to manhood and womanhood. Two of the eight, John B. and Pitt preceeded her in death. Six children, Mrs. S. B. Schott, E. J. and Mrs. Alta Byers reside in Birmingham, Mrs. F. P. Huffman of Salt Lake, Harry C. of Stockport, and Ed of Bradshaw, Neb, remain to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate mother.

She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. E. Pitkin of Fayetteville, Ark., and Mrs. Hannah Moss of this place.

Her husband departed this life Feb. 24, 1899.

She was converted in childhood and united with the M. E. church and remained a consistent member of that denomination until the end. So long as health would permit, she was a regular attendant at church, and lived a consistent Christian life, her bible being her companion until within two or three days of her death. She was known far and near by the older citizens as Aunt Nancy, and had the love and respect of all.

Her illness dates from December, 1901, when she suffered a light stroke of paralysis, but, though feeble, was able to be up and around the house, and occasionally venture out in town and visit her children and a few intimate friends. Five weeks ago last Saturday she suffered a severe stroke of paralysis that left her helpless, and since has had a nurse night and day. Since that date, she has had several light strokes.

The funeral services were held at her late home, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock; the services being conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. M. Smith, and was laid to rest in the Brimingham Cemetery beside her husband and other loved ones who preceeded her.

A good mother, a kind neighbor has gone to her reward.
