A Sudden Death.

Last Monday evening at Farmington suddenly occurred the death of Mrs. Chauncy Booth, a well-known and highly respected lady of that place, and mother of our townsman, G. A. Booth. She had been ailing somewhat last week but was able to be up and about the house Monday. At seven o'clock that evening she was suddenly taken ill and died in a few moments, presumably from a congestive chill.

[Margaret Appolin Allender was born May 8, 1842, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and came with her parents to Iowa, settling at Vernon in 1844. She was married to Chauncy Booth December 25, 1861. To this union were born three children, two sons and a daughter. The husband and sons survive, the daughter dying in 1891.

The family resided in Keosauqua six years, during which time Mr. Booth held the position of county auditor. They moved to Bentonsport in 1890 and to Farmington, the present home, in 1894.

Mrs. Booth had attained the age of 57 years, 3 months and 6 days.

The funeral services were held at the late home in Farmington, August 16, 1899, conducted by Rev. Wiggins and Rev. G. W. Barber, and the burial occurred at Vernon.
