This was posted in the March 29, 2001 issues of The Morning Sun News Herald and The Wapello Republican, in Morning Sun and Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa. I have no further info on Mr. Schuck.

John M. Schuck, 35, of Keosauqua, Iowa, died in a snowmobile accident on the Mississippi Rover, near Jacobson, Minn., Saturday, March 24, 2001. He was born January 9, 1966 in Minneapolis, Minn, to John and Jean Keller Schuck. He married Marydawn Brauns, January 9, 1988 in Pella.

He grew up near Stockport, graduated from Van Buren High School in 1984 and from Central College, Pella in 1988 with a degree in business administration. He was salutatorian of his high school class, was active in sports and a member of the National Honor Society. He played football in college and was active in other campus activities.

He was assistant manager of the Orscheln store in Burlington during which time he and his wife were also dormitory directors at Iowa Wesleyan College, M. Pleasant. He was promoted to manager of an Orscheln store in Pittsburg, KS, managed a Westco store in Coffeyville, KS and lived in Pittsburg and Cherryvale, KS.

He returned to Keosauqua in August, 1997 and he and his wife opened Village Craft floor coverings and appliance store in Keosauqua.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Cherryvale, KS and currently was active in Zion Bible Church near Douds.

He was a member of the Keosauqua Chamber of Commerce, Villages of Van Buren, and Stockport Lions Club and coached and assisted with yough baseball and softball and elementary girls' basketball.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Kirsten, 12; a son, Carson, 5; his parents of Stockport; seven nephews, Jordan Schuck, Will, Ryan Chase, Benjamin and Christopher Brauns, and Grant Carter; two nieces, Hannah Carter and Allison Brauns; parents-in-law, Sharon and Robert Galloway of Keosauqua and William and Jean Brauns of Wapello; grandmother-lin-law Dorothy Brauns of Greeley, CO; and sisters and brother-in-law, Shelly and Mark Carter, Chris and Jamie Brauns, Danny and Angie Brauns, Rusty Brauns, and Erin Brauns.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jason Schuck, and his grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 pm Thursday, March 29, 2001 at Roberts Memorial Center, Hwy 1, North, Keosauqua, Rev. Michael Mosier and Rev. Chris Brauns officiating. The family will receive friends at the Roberts Center from 5:30 pm Thursday until teh service begins.

Graveside services and committal will be at a later date in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport.

Memorials to his children's educational fund may be brought to the service, left at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, or mailed to the family at 25870 Hwy 2, Keosauqua, IA 52565.

Pedrick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
