Max Milton Cook, 52, of Douds, Iowa died Monday, February 12, 2001 at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield after a short illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Cook will be held at 11 am, Friday, February 16, 2001 at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa, with pastor David Seelye officiating. Burial will be in the Columbus City cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home from 3-7 pm. A memorial has been established at the funeral home.
Max was burn September 24, 1948 in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the son of James Russell and Dorothy Maxine Hanft Cook. On September 25, 1988, Max was united in marriage to Donna L. Sigman in Nebraska. Max was a dairy farmer in the Douds area. He was a member of the American Jersey Cattle Club and enjoyed showing his Jersey cows.
Max is survived by his wife, Donna of Douds, Iowa; his son, Michael David Stewart and wife Toni of Ottumwa; his daughter, Michele Vaughan and husband Nathan of Williamsburg; three step-sons, William, Brian and Michael Barndt; and nine grand-children. Also surviving are four brothers, James Russell Cook Jr. of Parnell, Iowa, John Arnold Cook of Tipton, Gary Ray Cook of West Liberty, and David Richard Cook of Deep River.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, J. Russell and Dorothy Maxine Cook.
