At his residence in Bonaparte, Iowa, September 1st, 1892, W. F. Miller, aged 56 years, 2 months and 14 days, of Spinal disease.

W. F. Miller was born in Rocking county, Virginia, July 17, 1836, and moved to Ohio in 1855, thence to Illinois in 1865, when he was married to Miss Mary King in April, 1869. They moved to Lee county, Iowa, in 1879, thence to Van Buren county. After being on a farm several years they moved to Bonaparte in March, 1892.

Brother Miller gave three years and two months to the service of his country during the war of the Rebellion. Fought at the seige [sic] of Vicksburg, and marched with General Sherman to the Sea. He had seven brothers and two sisters, five of whom are now living; on sister and three brothers having preceded him to the future world. One brother and one sister lives in Illinois and two brothers in Ohio. He was the father of two children, one daughter and one son. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist church for a number of years.

The funeral took place from the Bonaparte Baptist church under the auspices of Miles King Post, of Farmington, of which he was a member, and several comrades from Keosauqua, Bonaparte and Bentonsport were present.

Rev. McMasters preached an unusually good sermon from the text selected by the deceased, from the words, "I know that my Redeemer liveth," etc. The choir sang three hymns, Gathering Home, Ho* My Comrades and Nearer my God to Thee, selected by Mr. Miller, and by his request Mrs. F.? P. Henry presided at the organ.

The Comrades and friends took a last sad view of the remains, when they were conveyed to their last resting place there to await the last roll call.
