Eldridge I. McCarty

Eldridge I. McCarty, son of James and Mary Belle Allen McCarty, was born February 4, 1906 at Williamstown, Missouri and died Sunday morning, May 1, 1988 in the emergency room of Jefferson County Hospital, Fairfield.

He grew up in Missouri, lived in Illinois, farmed near Mt. Sterling and Selma, and retired to Douds in 1978.

He married Pearl Carter McCarty February 25, 1939 in Monticello, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Louise Orndoff, Douds; a son, Robert, Fairfield; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Three brothers, four sisters and a son-in-law, Richard Orndoff, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 4, 1988 at 11 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with Reverend Gerald Caughron officiating. Internment was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds. A memorial was established for the Douds First Responders.
