Bruce L. Harryman, Sr.

Bruce L. Harryman, Sr., son of Wade H. and Elva McCloskey Harryman, was born April 13, 1899, in the White Elm community south of Selma, and departed this life Sunday, September 21, 1975, at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield at the age of 76.

On April 16, 1919, he married Dora Belle Wolfe at her parents’ home near Douds. They farmed south of Douds until 1947, when they moved to Ottumwa. They have resided in Ottumwa since that time, except for a two year period in Phoenix, Arizona.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his widow, a son, Bruce L. Harrryman, Jr. of Douds, fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A son, Ronald and a brother Cecil, preceded him in death.

Bruce was a member of the Ottumwa Real Estate Association and had served on its board of directors.

He was a devoted husband and father, and throughout his life was interested and concerned with current affairs, both locally and throughout the country.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 4, 1975 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with Troy Craig and Dan Henry officiating. Interment was in the Leando Cemetery at Douds.
