Source not identified, but probably in Van Buren or Washington Counties Iowa, around October 24, 1907H.C.Leach of this city received a telegram Friday announcing the death of his cousin, Capt. Charles B. Leach, who died at his home in Memphis, MO, Thursday of paralysis. He was formerly a resident of Van Buren county, where his remains were taken the following Friday for burial. Mr. Leach was a member of the 3rd Iowa Cavalry and was promoted to the position of captain soon after his enlistment. He weighted 250 pounds and was never sick in bed a day in his life until he was stricken with paralysis. He was a cheerful whole-souled good fellow and well though of by everybody.

Source probably a Memphis, MO newspaper, around October 24, 1907Charles B. Leach, died of paralysis at his home in this city, Thursday, October 24, 1907, at 5 p.m., aged 70 years and 3 months.
Deceased was stricken with paralysis many months ago and ever since that time he was a helpless invalid. During all his illness he had good medical attention and the constant care of loving friends, but they could not bring him back to health and strength. When death came it surely was a release.
He was of stalwart frame and looked like the very embodiment of health. Such a one frequently becomes the victim of paralysis or apoplexy. He was a good citizen and will be missed and mourned by a large cirlce of friends as well as by his immediate family.
Deceased was born July 25, 1837, in the state of Virginia. His parents moved to Iowa, when he was a mere child, settling in Van Buren County. During the Civil War he enlisted in the 3rd Iowa Cavalry. He was first made orderly sargeant, later 2nd lietenant and still later 1st liutenant of Co. G.
In 1869 he came to Memphis and followed the milling business for several years. In January, 1875 he was married to Miss Alice Hamilton, who together---(unreadable) and one daughter surviving (unreadable) children preceding him to the promised land. He virtually raised his brothers and to them he always seemed more like a father than a brother.
Funeral services were held the next day at the family home. Dr. W.R. Henderson officiating, after which the body was tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery.
