MITCHELL
At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Mitchell, in Bonaparte, July 13, '94, Mrs. George E. Mitchell.
She was the daughter of William C. and Caroline Callum and was born near Bonaparte, October 17, 1873, married to George E. Mitchell September 14, 1893. She leaves to mourn her loss a father, mother, husband, sister and one brother and a large circle of friends. Although young Vallie had been a faithful worker for the master. She first united with the Presbyterian church and afterwards with the Baptist church of which she was a faithful member at the time of her death.
Vallie was loved by her many friends for her happy disposition and sunny countenance and thoughtfulness in making others happy. To have heard of her was to reverence her; to have seen her was to honor her; and to have known her was to love her.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. M. Cooney, pastor of the Baptist church at Harrisburg.
Opening was a song 210 in Gospel Hymns No, 6, scripture reading and prayer, followed by song No. 373 in Gospel Hymns combined. Sermon from the text I Cor. 15th chapter and 53d verse: "For this corruption must put on incorruption, and this mortal must yut [sic] on immortality."
The profusion of flowers and the many who come to pay their last regards showed to some extent the reverence and confidence Vallie had of the people. The remains were interred in the Bonaparte cemetery Sunday morning and were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of sympathizing friends.
