Obituary of Flemon M. Sparks
(This should be Fleming.)

Flemon Martin Sparks was born Nov. 8. 1850, in Kentucky, and died March 13, 1924, at the home of his niece Mrs. Fred Williamson, Cassville, Mo., in his 73rd year. His mother died when he was six months old. At the age of seven he came with his father, Jesse Sparks, and sister, Viola to Scotland county, Mo., where he resided until 1894, when he and family moved to Mt. Sterling, Io., where he ever since lived.

In 1874 he was married to Amanda Sheets of Scotland county, Mo. To them three daughters and one son were born.

The daughters preceded him in death: Rosa dying in inifancy, Mary, Isabel in 1911, aged 21, and Nancy Viola in 1923, age 46. He is survived to mourn his loss by his companion and the son William Taylor of Mt. Sterling; also by eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Viola Ferguson, Newark, Mo.; four half sisters, Mrs. Hester Miller, Moravia, Io., Mrs. Jessie Potts, Columbia Falls, Mont., Mrs. Anna Aldrige, Mano, Mo., and Mrs. Lucy Shumate Golden. Mo.; also a half-brother, J. S. Sparks, Glden, Mo., and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was of a quiet disposition, highly esteemed by all who knew him; a loving husband, and father. He had been a member of the M. E. church for 35 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Sparks were spending the winter with relatives in Barry county, Mo., and had planned to return home in a few days when he was stricken with uremic poison. He was tenderly cared for during his short illness by relatives and friends.

Funeral services in charge of Rev. Sawtell were held at the home of his son William, Sunday at 1
p.m. Burial in Harness Cemetery.
