JOHN FLOYD MADDEN DIES AT MT. STERLING

John Floyd Madden, son of the late William and Tunie Madden, was born on a farm near Mt. Sterling, June 14, 1891, and died at his home in Mt. Sterling, January 10, at the age of 59 years.

He spent his entire life in and around Mt. Sterling. On August 23, 1913, he was united in marriage to Hazel French of Farmington. To this union was born one son, Max Elman, For several years he was engaged in farming and for the past 28 years had lived in Mt. Sterling, where he owned and operated a general store.

He was a member of the Christian church, the Modern Woodmen of America, and the Elks Lodge at Fairfield. He also took an active part in communitv affairs.

He is survived by his widow, Hazel, his son, Max and daughter-in-Iaw, Evelyn; two grandsons, Daniel Floyd and John Max; two brothers, William of Mt. Sterling and Russell of Albert Lea, Minn., his step-mother, Mrs. Ida Madden who lives at his home, and a number of relatives and a host of friends. A sister, Mrs. Virgil Mosier, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock in the Methodist church, Mt. Sterling. The Rev. John Darlington officiated. Music was furnished bv Mr. and Mrs. Keith Gaston. Pallbearers were Forrest Dunshee, Alva Anson, Russell Heald, Edgar Miller, Lennie Parish and Al Drummond. Interment was made in Harrness Cemetery, Mt. Sterling.
