Oscar Roberts

Oscar Roberts, 86, formerly of Hillsboro and Glascow vicinities, passed away Saturday morning, June 6 at Graham Hospital, Keokuk where he had been a patient since May, 22.

He was born near Bible Grove, Scotland county, Mo. on Feb. 17, 1878, the son of Andrew and Ann Pruett Roberts. He was married to Lillian E. Crenshaw on April 24, 1906 at Fairfield, Iowa.
He was a member of The Church of Christ in Rockford, Ill. He was employed by the United Lock Co. of Rockford, Ill. until he retired in 1952. He lived in Keokuk for 12 years and in Hillsboro three years with his daughter, Nola, and her husband, Paul Conner.

Surviving besides Nola, are four other daughters, Mrs. Orpha Moore, Mrs. Lois Lambert and Mrs. Juanna Starr, all of Keokuk, and Mrs. Velela BurcheIt of Wyaconda, Mo.; two sons, Dreco and Boyd Roberts of Keokuk; four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Burru; of Fort Myers, Fla. Mrs. Addie Wright and Mrs. Alpha Stone, both of Memphis, Mo., Mrs. Mary Meador of Chillicothe, Mo.; 19 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Arverta Hastings, four brothers, two sisters and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tusday, June 9 at 2 o'clock at the Schmidt Memorial, Keokuk, with Rev. W. G. Tremble officiating. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery.
