Marion Edward Roby

Marion Edward Roby, 68, 2103 Avenue D, Fort Madison, Iowa, died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 1996 at Fort Madison Community Hospital after having been in failing health the past 2 1/2 years.

He was born Oct. 17, 1927 at Troy, Iowa, the son of William Carl Roby and Wilma Jean Vanderlinden of Keosauqua.

He married Virginia Daniels Roby on Oct. 29, 1952 at the Sante Fe Methodist Church. He was a retired tool and die maker for Gleason Corporation with 40 years and one day service, retiring in May 1995. He was a resident of Fort Madison for over 40 years; was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Lifetime member of the International Assn. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

He is survived by his wife, his mother, one son, Stanley W. Roby of St. Helens, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. Harlan (Marilyn) Hanson of West Des Moines, Iowa and Jane Roby of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Eileen Boyd of Des Moines, Iowa and Bonnie Alexander of Indianola, Iowa, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
