Obituary.

The following obituary was handed to us several weeks ago and was unintentionally mislaid. We give it this week.

From Milton Herald.

Hugh Bell was born on Dec. 21, 1845, in Keosauqua, Ia. He died near Troy April 24, 1905, at the age of 59 years, 4 months and 3 days. With the exception of 3 ½ years in Kansas he spent his life in Iowa. When only 18 he enlisted in the war of the rebellion, in May 1864. He was married to Catharine E. Ware of Bonaparte, Sept. 14, 1881. To this union was born five children two daughters and three sons, all of whom are living and with the wife deeply mourn the loss of father and husband. He is survived by an aged father of Clayton, Kas., by two sisters, Mrs. Kate Higgason of Bellville, Kan. and Mrs. Alpha Ware of Farmington, and by brothers, Howard and Kirk, residing in Oklahoma and Oregon. The mother, three brothers and one sister have departed this life. It can be said of the deceased that he ever tried to do as he would be done by. In the winter of 1896 we (he) was converted and united with the Presbyterian church at Milton. After removing to Troy he joined there in 1892 by letter and has been a faithful member, dying with a good hope in Christ. The funeral services were held in the Troy Presbyterian church conducted by the pastor, Rev. N. P. Olney. Members of the Masonic Lodge of Milton, to which deceased belonged, were present and with friends of the order at Troy, conducted the services with impressive ceremonies at the grave. The interment was in the Troy cemetery.
