David Ewing, son of W.J.and Nancy Rupe Ewing, was born Oct. 6,1894, near Mt. Zion and passed away Dec. 7,1945, at the Jefferson Co. Hospital, Fairfield at the age of 51 years. 9 months and one day. David grew to manhood and lived his entire life in the community, excepting the two and one half years that he served his counrty in World War I. When he returned to the states he took part in the big victory parade in New York. Returning to the community he worked with his neighbors, while staying at home and in later years he and his sister Iva devoted their time caring for the aged parents until they passed away-and no one could have given them more loving care. Then David and Iva made a home for each other until death seperated them. David was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Those surviving are Mrs. A.E. Jemison and Mrs. O.N. Jemison and Martin Ewing all of Keosauqua, Ben of Birmingham, Clarence of Kilbourne, Emmet of Leando and Iva at home; and other relatives and friends.
