Hattie M. Howell of 6666 Independence Avenue, Conoga Park, Calif, wife of Dalton D. Howell, passed away May 21, 1951 after 11 1/2 months of illness. She was the daughter of John and Mary Newman, was born October 15, 1883, near Stockport, Van Buren County, Iowa. She spent the early part of her life in Stockport, Iowa. In 1915 she was married to Dalton D. Howell of Fairfield, Iowa. To this union were born two children, a son, John A. Howell and a daughter Jenadah M. Howell.

In 1937 the family moved to Canoga Park, Calif., and has resided at the same residence until she passed away. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, a son, John A. Howell, of Van Nuys, Calif., and a daughter, Jenaday M. Santo of Memphis, Tenn., who was with her the last 10 months of her illness. Three brothers and one sister, W.T. Newman and Ada Workman and family of Stockport, Iowa; B.D. Newman and family of Agency, Iowa, also R.W. Newman and family of Keosauqua, Iowa, and a host of friends.

Services were held at Praiswater Funeral Home, Canoga Park, Calif. Rev. Lewis C. Mick, pastor of the Christian Church, Taryana, Calif., officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery at the foot of the Santa Suzana mountain which she so dearly loved.
