Arden Koonts, son of Fred and Nenia Petit Koonts was born April 19,1904, on a farm south of Douds and passed away Sep. 3,1960, at his home in St. Louis, Mo, after suffering a heart attack at the age of 56 yeaars, four months, and 14 days. On Aug. 24,1930 he married Irma Jemison of Keosauqua. In October 1937, he entered the United States Weather Bureau Service and for the past 16 years has worked in the St. Louis branch as a weather forecaster. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife,Irma; one sister, Mrs. Florence White of Douds; one brother, Lynn Koonts of East Moline,Il;one niece and four nephews and a number of cousins, relatives, and friends. Funeral services were held Sep. 7,1960 at the Lebanon Methodist church. Interment was in Lebanon cemetery.
