John Oscar Pratt

John Oscar Pratt, oldest son of Porter and Adeline Johnston Pratt, was born at Utica, Iowa, Aug. 14, 1878 and departed from this life on Oct. 5, 1964 at the Laughlin Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri.

He was united in marriage with Georgia Anna Glascock on Sept. 9, 1909, who passed away Sept. 22, 1943. To this union five sons were born. The youngest son, John Jr., passed away in infancy. The surviving sons are Floyd Pratt of Eldora, Ia., Harold Pratt of Keosauqua, Ia., Francis H. Pratt of Madras, Ore., and William L. Pratt of Bonaparte, Ia. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson and the following brothers: James and Ira Pratt of Stockport, Manley Pratt of Batavia and Worthy Pratt of Keosauqua. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

He and his brother, Ira Pratt were operators of the Pratt Bros. General Store in Utica, Iowa from 1903 until 1930. From this store they operated the “Huckster Wagon” which serviced the farm families of the vicinity.

The later years of his life were spent in Stockport and Bonaparte.
