Lulu George Slinn, wife of James B. Slinn, was born June 4th, 1860 at Bonaparte, Iowa on the very spot her present home now stands; and died November 23rd, 1918, within the same walls that had sheltered her in happy girlhood. These walls were hallowed by the precious memories of those who had gone before, dear to her heart as life itself. She was a firm believer in the Christian faith and spoke frequently of the joy of meeting those she loved who have long since departed. She leaves to mourn their loss, a son, Hubert George Slinn, who is now with the American Expeditionary Forces, and her husband, James B. Slinn.

She was united in marriage to James B. Slinn, a professional portrait and landscape painter of some note, at Chicago, Illinois on December 8th, 1885. To this union only one child was born. Hubert George Slinn, who does not yet know of his mother's death.

Lulu was the only girl of the family and the last to go. Three brothers, Charles L., Frank Byron, and Wm. A., have preceded her to that haven of rest. Her mother and father too have passed away. Her father was Doctor Oliver George, a man much beloved for his warm sympathies, professional skill and great personality. Her mother had a brilliant intellect, was a close observer of current events and besides she possessed a great fund of classic lore.

Lulu George Slinn was the last of this interesting family. The writer of this sketch speaking of her accomplishments does so with the conviction that all who ever knew her will acquiesce that the half has not been told.
