Medora Cresap Moore, fourth daughter of Margaret Ellen and John Hanson Cresap, pioneer residents of Bonaparte, was born in this community on January 4, 1877, and died at Memorial hospital, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa on December 20, 1947 at the age of 70 years, 11 ½ months.

Her entire life was spent in this community. She attended the public schools of Bonaparte, graduating with the class of 1892, it being the second class to graduate.

On March 10, 1909, she was united in marriage with Brown Moore of Bentonsport, and they established their home on a farm north of Bonaparte. To this union were born two sons, Brown Jr. and John H.

In later years they moved into town to be with her aged mother, still continuing to operate the farm.

Mrs. Moore has had an active part in community affairs. She was, at the time of her death, a steward in the Methodist Church, with which she had affiliated on January 21, 1902. She has been a member of Chapter AB, P.E.O. For over fifty years. She was especially interested in children, and in being a good neighbor.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, one son Brown Jr., a little grandson, John Robert, and one sister Berenice C. Stebbins, all of Bonaparte.

Preceding her in death besides her parents were 3 sisters who died in infancy, and one son, John H. who was lost at sea on Dec. 18, 1944.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the residence in Bonaparte, conducted by the Rev. John S. Ellis. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery.
