Neva M. Cummings, daughter of Robert and Addie Lannam Hamilton, was born at Mt. Sterling, Iowa, August 15, 1914; and departed this life May 29,, 1945, at the age of thirty years, nine months and fourteen days.

She grew to womanhood in Mt. Sterling, attended the local school, and July 10, 1932, was united in marriage with Harold Cummings of Bonaparte. The young couple established a home on a farm near Bonaparte where they lived until the spring of 1935 when they moved to town. Two years ago they again moved to a farm, eight miles north of Bonaparte, which has since been home.

Neva enjoyed her home and her church associations, being one of a group of young people active in the Sunday School and Mission work In April, 1940, she with her husband united with the Mt. Zion Baptist church of Bonaparte, under the pastorate of Rev. Winfrey.

About a year ago Neva's health began to fail and she went to Oakdale, Iowa, for treatment at the Sanitarium there. For seven months she has patiently done her part in an effort to recover, but was forced to succumb to the fatal malady that has cut short a life so full of promise.

She is survived by her husband and her mother, her father having preceded her in death. There are also four sisters and two brothers; Opal Brown of Arizona, Garnet Styles of Stockport, Iowa, Gwendolyn Robertson of LaMonte, Mo., Nelda Howard of Quincy, Ill., Hollis Hamilton of Des Moines and Robert Hamilton of Donnellson, Iowa. There are five nieces and six nephews.

Funeral services conducted by the pastor, Rev. Niederhuth, and were held Saturday afternoon at the Bonaparte Baptist church. Interment in Bonaparte cemetery.
