TRANSLATION
On Monday morning, Aug. 19, Mrs. Flint, the mother of Mrs. J. O. Jackson, passed to her eternal rest. While not always suffering from great pain, yet her affliction kept her quite closely confined. She was an interesting woman. Her large experience, especially her observations during the civil war, made her versatile in matters in which the younger generations are greatly interested. She knew that the days of her departure were at hand, but she did not hesitate before the untried crossing of the narrow stream that flows softly between time and eternity. She was waiting for her Heavenly Father's call to the house not made with hands.
The sympathy of her many friends is most cordially tendered to Mrs. Jackson and our prayers petition divine grace to comfort her in her bereavement.
One comfort is that our dead are still ours. James Richardson's dream has much reality in it:

Of that dark room beyond the topmost stair.
The tolling of the twelvefold midnight bells;
And then I woke--amd saw her standing there....
poem continues for many lines.(other clippings on page in early 1900's. This lady may be Rebecca Vorhies Flint 10/5/1826-8/19/1907, mother of Mrs. J.O. Jackson)
