In Memoriam

Cresswell--Sabbath evening, June 5, at the residence of her parents, in Harrisburg township, van Buren County, Miss Alice , daughter of Matthew and Catharine Cresswell, aged 26 years, 6 mo., and 7 days. The funeral took place from her father's house Tuesday, June 7; Rev James Welch, of Bonaparte conducting the services.

With sadness we received the news of the death of Miss Cresswell, one of Harrisburg's most estimable young ladies, and one who will long be remembered for her affable manner and kindly disposition. If any were sick, she was willing and ready to minister to them. If any applied to her for assistance they were not disappointed. A friend to all, and enemy to none. She possessed a nature devoid of deceitfulness, and a manner both frank and friendly. In society she was one who ever sought the pleasure of others rather than her own. For her friends she always exhibited a warm feeling. At home she was a diligent and dutiful daughter, a loving and a thoughtful sister. Many were the pleasant and profitable evenings we spent together during the last winter. Now only memory is left to cherish the memory of the departed. In this may we heed the admonition "Be ye also ready." She is and will be missed in her home, in her neighborhood by her friends as well as kindred, and very keenly by her friend and neighbor who contributes this token to the memory of one greatly loved and esteemed.
