Samuel Anen Boyer, son of David and Maria Francis Boyer, was born in Muskingdom county, Ohio, March 2, 1840. Came to Iowa when a young boy. In March, 1861 he was married to Ann Garver. After her death he married Mrs. Willa Mosier, who only lived about one year, and in June 1899 he was again married to the bereaved wife, who with one son, survive him.

Of his character and life little need be said. He has lived among you as a businessman; an ernest, faithful christian. A devoted husband and father, a kind and helpful son and brother.

He departed this life at 11 o'clock Sunday morning February 8, 1903.

Mr. Boyer was a man beloved by everyone, his sterling character was one that the young might seek to emulate. His one aim through life has been to help others and there are many to miss his words and deeds of kindness. There are eight brothers and one sister living to grieve for him. His sister, Mrs. Nan Miller, of this city will sadly missed him, for no day was too stormy for him to go to her during her recent illness. Then there are the wife and little son, whom he adored; they will watch in vain for his coming, and that last realize that only time can reunite them. Why the best and noblest must be taken, only God can reveal, but certain it is, "He doeth all things well."
