BURNETT, LEFFLER, HOLCOMB, PALMER

Thomas O. Burnett, son of Thomas and Isabelle Burnett, was born near Bonaparte, Iowa, August 15, 1870 and passed away Wednesday evening, April 17, 1929 at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Desmoines, being 58 years, 8 months and 2 days of age.

He grew to manhood on the farm where he was born and lived his entire life about a half mile from the old homestead.

Sept. 10, 1902 he was united in marriage with Lena Louisa Leffler and to this union were born four children, one, Henrietta, having preceded him in death.

He united with the Bethel Baptist church in early manhood, later transferring his membership to Bonaparte where he was always interested in the welfare of the church and community.

He is survived by his wife and three children, Mrs. Eugene Holcomb of Knoxville, Iowa; Miss Gertrude of Des Moines and Harold at home; also two grandsons, Viva Gene and B. J. Holcomb. Besides his bereaved family he leaves three brothers and one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Palmer of Des Moines; Robert of Bonaparte; Grant of Milton, and Zack of LaPlata, Mo., and host of other relatives and friends.

He has been failing in health for several years. In January a heart attack made his condition more critical, such that it became necessary for him to go to the hospital where Wednesday morning a severe attack terminated in his death at 10:30 that evening.

Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. A. C. Droz at the Baptist church, Sunday afternoon. Interment in Bonaparte Cemetery.
