Emma E. Christy, 98, of Bonaparte, died Thursday, May 12, 1988 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, 1001 E. Pennsylvania.
She was born March 27, 1890, in Montezuma, to John L. and Anna E. Johnson. She and her husband owned and operated the Christy Store in Bonaparte for many years. She was a member of Bonaparte Presbyterian Church; Chapter AB, PEO; Chapter BY, TTT; American Legion Auxiliary of Bonaparte; a 50 year member of Magnolia Chapter, and Order of Eastern Star. She married Harley Thomas Christy June 12, 1917. He died in 1961. She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Millican of Ottumwa; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Nellie Johnson of Des Moines; and a brother, Oscar Johnson of Flint, Mich.
Graveside services were held Monday, May 16, 1988 at 10:30 a.m. in Bonaparte Cemetery.
Memorials have been made to Bonaparte cemetery.
