Grover, son of John and Lucellia Atchison was born in Farmington, Iowa, April 12, 1888, and died at his home January 27, 1903, aged 14 years, 9 months and 12 days. He was the last surviving child and the pride and comfort of his parents. He was well and favorably known in the town and was loved, admired and respected by all who knew him. He was a bright and energetic lad, a reader of good literature and interested in that which was good and uplifting, and for one of his age, was extremely polite, kind and considerate for the welfare of others. He was very industrious, a constant helper of his parents, assisting them in caring for the guests at the hotel, all of which recognized him as a good boy. The loss is great, but the sympathy of a host [of] friends are extended to the bereaved parents. The funeral was held from the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. J. Herbert Taylor, and his remains were laid to rest in the old cemetery on the hill.

Grover was a scholar in room six of our public schools, and his classmates presented an elegant floral piece in token of their esteem. The entire room, accompanied by their teacher, Mrs. A. T. S. Owen, attended the funeral in a body. Many other floral pieces and flowers were contributed by a host of friends who extend their sympathy to do to brief parents.
