At noon on Saturday, Jan. 20, all hearts were touched with sadness at the tidings of the death of Mrs. Ida Carr, which occurred at her home in this city. Silently and unexpectedly the angel of death laid his icy hand upon this dear young woman, releasing the spirit from a frail body but leaving behind many sorrowing friends. Naturally delicate and accustomed to those paroxysms of illness she felt no apprehensive fears until a short time before the end. When the sharp truth was realized she calmly remarked "I am willing to go."
Ida Dukes Carr was born in Bentonsport Sept. 1868 and died Jan. 20, 1906, aged 37 years, 4 months and 6 days.
She leaves to mourn her loss three children, Frank, Eva and Willie, mother and father, one sister and two-step brothers.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Vernon on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The remains were laid to rest in the Vernon Cemetery.
