OBITUARY OF MRS. HARDIN BREWSTER
Mary Frances Kingsbury was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, Feb. 15, 1849, and died at her home in Vernon township Sept. 7, 1921, aged 72 years, 6 months, and 20 days.
She was married on the 23rd of March, 1870, to Mr. Hardin Brewster. Their 51 years of married life were spent in the neighorhood [sic] where they were born and married. Nine children came to bless their home, seven boys and two girls: Mrs. Lucy Harryman, Oscar, Harvey, Arthur, Otto, Oran, Clyde and Mrs. Crete Finn, who were twins, and Howard. All of the children were present when the mother died. She was the first to go. Besides the children, she leaves her husband, twelve grandchildren, and two brothers and one sister: Deming Kingsbury, Butler Kingsbury of Joplin, Mo., and Mrs. Amelia Wollam of Cantril.
Mrs. Brewster united with the Center Chapel Methodist church in 1892. She came from a Christian family. Her grandfather was a missionary to the Choctaw Indians, and Mrs. Brewster lived with them for a while when she was a girl.
Mrs. Brewster will be greatly missed in the home and community where she lived so many years. The beautiful, quiet country home has always been a scene of sociability [sic] and life. A year ago last March they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Since then Mrs. Brewster had been gradually failing in health until her death. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the husband and relatives in their bereavement.
Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon, Rev. J.W. Fowler of Bloomfield officiating. Interment in the Center Chapel cemetery.
