We glean the following from the Gate City, relative to the death of Hugh R. Logan, who died at his home near Big Mound Feb. 26.

Hugh Ritner Logan was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, March 21st, 1832; was married to Catharine C. McLeland Dec. 30, 1858, and moved to Iowa in the spring of 1864, settling near where he remained until his death which occurred early in the morning of Feb. 26, 1904. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Logan, one daughter dying in infancy. Of the surviving children, five, -- Mrs. Addie Braden, Mrs. Cora Morris, John, Frank and Emmett Logan--came from western Nebraska to the bedside of their dying father. Samuel came from Oklahoma, Alander from Clark County, Mo., and Harry who lived on the home place with his father. All were present except James of Minneapolis, Minn., who, on account of sickness, was unable to come.

Mr. Logan united with the church at Sharon in the spring of 1886 and remained an earnest, faithful member till his death which was the result of paralysis. His good wife, whose last resting place has received such loving care at his hands preceded him to the better land, having died Nov. 21, 1885. In addition to his nine children and five grand children a host of friends mourn the death of a kind and affectionate parent and a good citizen and neighbor. In his death Sharon loses a faithful member and an untiring and efficient church officer.
